Concert no. due

Rachmaninoff went very well as well. Not as many people in the audience though, but thankfully its pitch dark outside the spotlights, so it really didn’t matter. A few tempi slower than rehearsal, and as usual, a lot more passion. Good stuff!

Pre-dinner and Vesper

A slow day in Fano. I don’t think anyone in the choir did anything at all. After the ceremony there was some coffee, and some sleeping and some beach volley and some shopping. But not much else.Rehearsed Rachmaninoff at 1730. New positions on the stage, 4 rows with quartets of each part (eg. 2 second bases at the 4th row and 2 at the 3rd). From where I stood it produced a very homogeneous sound and lovely projection from the choir. Good stuff!Concert starts at 2115, we’re on at… 2145?I’ll see if I can find a Brudetto for dinner (a local dish characterized by a friend as “fish broth with things in it”). Wish me luck.

Ceremonia; pt 2

The ceremony was the president of the festival, the mayor and other notables talking long about something I’m sure was very interesting and educational, but unfortunately was almost entirely in Italian sooooo… Let’s just say the Swedish choir was a bit fidgety by the end, shall we?And there was exchanging of gifts which we had not remembered, so while the other choirs gave books and recording and stuff, St Jacobs Chamber Choir, gave… A song… :-)

Ceremonia

Closing the night

A word for the wise…

… don’t sing to loudly at the outdoor bar after a concert in Fano off season. Or 33 elderly people may call the police on you :-) (After which the party continued on the top floor terrace, I fled at 0230, but I hear the brave warriors kept at it an hour more).

First Concert

And so the first concert is done. Frank Martin. We sang as 3rd and last choir, meaning a late start. The church was packed. And for your amusement, this was the men dress code, in chronological order: No jacket, tie. No jacket, no tie. Jacket, no tie. No jacket, no tie. But even though it looked a bit odd, it was probably the right decision, it was very hot in the spotlights. It went really, really well. The first 3 parts in particular were magical at times. Nice acoustics in the church, and a very nice response from the audience.Whee!

Breaking news: Gustaf looses at mini-golf!

The battle of room 102 is done and the rightful winner is Lars who utterly crushed Gustaf in today’s game. In fact, Gustaf lost to Carina as well. And Märit. And Fredrik (who ruled the game). In fact, Gustaf was last. At the very end. And thus justice was served yet again :-) Dinner time. And at 1045 or so… Frank Martin. It’s gonna be fun.

And now for an important announcement

It’s 1415. Time for a whee bit of siesta.Oh, and thank goodness for AC…

Lunchtime

Morning rehearsal. Scheduled for 1.5 hours, but lasted 45 minutes longer. But we needed it for Martin.
